Seal
Beach is a quaint seaside community on the northern most
border of Orange County. Located at the mouth of Alamitos
Bay, it provides access for boats and yachts entering
the Pacific Ocean from Huntington Harbor. With a population of
24,098, Seal Beach celebrated its 90th anniversary
in
October 2005.
Though Long Beach, California's fifth largest city with the
busiest port in the nation looms next door, Old Town Seal
Beach features shady, tree-lined Main Street, a beautiful
beach and pier reminiscent of small town America during the
mid 1900's. Stroll along several city blocks of Main Street
beginning at the pier to enjoy restaurants, gift shops, foreign
films, surf, kite and bicycle shops and a tea room.
An art faire, a sandcastle contest/fund raiser and 4th
of July celebrations are a few annual events of special
interest.
The City’s beautiful beaches and pleasant weather
attracts more than 2,000,000 visitors each year making
recreation
an important factor in the local economy in this otherwise
residential community. To accommodate visitors Seal Beach
maintains a municipal pier, a beach park and a skate
park.
